Gail Weisman

After having several years of symptoms, I was finally diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (PD) just before Thanksgiving, 2021. OK, so now what? I want more than anything to be a fun, active, understanding, motivating, supportive Nana, Mom, wife, and friend for a long time. I plan on taking advantage of everything available to me--from medication and lifestyle to emotional and spiritual tools--to keep the annoying and debilitating symptoms of PD at bay. So I am showing up to WALK (might break into a slow run occasionally) in The Michael J. Fox Foundation's (MJFF) Chicago Run/Walk this Saturday, May 14. Not only does my participation check off the "keep moving" box, I get to support MJFF's stunningly innovative and broad-based initiatives.

I'm just one of more than 6 million people worldwide are living with PD.  Sadly, there is no known cure for this chronic neurodegenerative disorder. As the world’s largest nonprofit funder of PD research, MJFF is working to change this through an aggressively funded research agenda and the development of improved therapies.

I know, I know.....your chartable giving budget is stretched thin. But really, your gift of any amount WILL make a difference: 100% of Run/Walk proceeds go directly to MJFF’s high-impact research programs.

Y'all know I appreciate your support and promise to keep up the good fight! Peace and love. Keep smiling!
Always in gratitude,
